The 2024 Annual LANGCON and PolyGlot Games
The 35th Annual 300th MI Brigade (LING) LANGCON was held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in Salt Lake City on Friday, February 2nd, with the 2024 Best Linguist (formerly POLYGLOT Games) on Saturday, February 3rd.
With over 800 military, education, and language focused attendees, last year's LANGCON had the highest number of attendees to date.
"Linguists In The Gray Zone"
The 35th LANGCON, hosted by the 300th MI Brigade (LING) drew over 800 military members and civilians, marking it as the largest event for many years! The theme, “Linguists in the Gray Zone,” centered on enhancing the geopolitical and cultural understanding of Military Intelligence Linguists, with a particular focus on China and Russia.
The conference featured several key highlights, including an opening address by Utah Governor Spencer Cox. He was followed by a thought-provoking moderated discussion with the Honorable Jon Huntsman Jr., former U.S. Ambassador to Russia and China. Ambassador Huntsman shared invaluable insights on leadership, diplomacy, and international relations, emphasizing the critical role of linguistic expertise in addressing modern security challenges. He also highlighted the vital contributions the 300th Military Intelligence Brigade (Linguist) will make in this effort.
As always, a core feature of LANGCON is the representatives of a wide array of military, intelligence, national security, and academic institutions that share opportunities for intelligence linguists to improve and use their language skills. We thank those who attended this year, and look forward to many returning in 2025!
